Lone Hoj
Lone Hoj is a molecular microbial ecologist working as a Research Scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) since 2009. Her PhD investigated archaeal communities in Arctic wetlands, with emphasis on methanogenic archaea and their response to soil water gradients and temperature. At AIMS, her research has centred on if and how microbial communities can be controlled in artificial systems and animal hosts. She also has an interest in biological control and biosecurity issues, and in the development of bioassays for pollution. Currently she co-leads a Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP) project developing probiotics and diets for coral aquaculture. She is also involved in several projects relating to the control of Crown-of-thorns starfish on the Great Barrier Reef.
